Andy Harrop is a British Acupuncture Council registered practitioner and the foremost practitioner of this style of Japanese Acupuncture in the UK. In 1984 he started his career in complementary medicine in London studying shiatsu and macrobiotics. He subsequently travelled to Japan and the USA where he further studied shiatsu, macrobiotics, and aikido for 4 years.
He started studying with Kiiko Matsumoto in 1991 and in 1995 completed a comprehensive clinical apprenticeship. He studied both TCM and Five Element Acupuncture at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in the UK, graduating in 1997. He returns every year to the USA for further clinical studies and tuition with Kiiko Matsumoto in order to continue and deepen his understanding of this type of acupuncture.
Andy is an experienced teacher and has taught Japanese acupuncture at several acupuncture colleges in the UK as well as internationally in Europe. For 6 years he lectured to nursing groups at Kings College London and has also lectured to charity and business groups. He worked for 18 months using Japanese acupuncture in two National Health G.P. surgeries and for 10 years using shiatsu in Guy’s Hospital oncology department.
Andy has also been invited to appear on television and in radio programmes to discuss alternative therapies and their significance.
Andy maintains his private practice in Dulwich, London and also organises Kiiko Matsumoto’s European Lecture, which takes place annually in London. He is the founder and Director of the acupuncture
